Fields of Mistria offers Small, Medium, and Large Barn blueprints with capacities of 4, 8, and 12 animals. The Medium blueprint unlocks at Ranching level 20, and the Large blueprint unlocks at Ranching level 40. Barns house Cows, Sheep, Horses, and Alpacas.
Barn Sizes, Costs, and Materials
The Small Barn is available from the beginning and costs 2,000t, 100 Wood, and 75 Stone. The Medium Barn costs 4,000t, 125 Wood, and 100 Stone. The Large Barn costs 8,000t, 150 Wood, and 125 Stone.
| Barn blueprint | Capacity | Supported animals | Requirement | Cost | Materials |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small Red or White Barn | 4 | Cows, Sheep, Horses, Alpacas | Available at the start | 2,000t | 100 Wood and 75 Stone |
| Medium Red or White Barn | 8 | Cows, Sheep, Horses, Alpacas | Ranching level 20 | 4,000t | 125 Wood and 100 Stone |
| Large Red or White Barn | 12 | Cows, Sheep, Horses, Alpacas | Ranching level 40 | 8,000t | 150 Wood and 125 Stone |
Each size adds four animal spaces compared with the previous row. Currency cost doubles at each step, while the Wood and Stone increases are smaller. Red and White versions share the same capacity, requirements, cost, and material totals in the collected table.
How Barn Blueprint Unlocks Work
Barn blueprints are purchased from the Carpenter. The Small blueprint is available at the start, while the higher capacity blueprints depend on Ranching skill progress. The official first major update notes confirm that Large Barns and Large Coops become purchasable at Ranching level 40. Neither that official note nor the current Mistria Guide farm pages publish an additional quest, delivery timer, or construction-time rule for these player-owned blueprints, so this guide does not add one.
Reaching Ranching level 20 unlocks the Medium Barn blueprint with space for eight animals. Reaching Ranching level 40 unlocks the Large Barn blueprint with space for twelve animals. The source does not provide separate unlock requirements for the Red and White appearances.
Choosing a Barn Size
Use the capacity column to match the blueprint to the number of Barn animals you intend to house. A Small Barn holds four, a Medium Barn holds eight, and a Large Barn holds twelve. These limits apply to Cows, Sheep, Horses, and Alpacas in the supplied source.
The table provides blueprint costs and materials without describing a direct in place upgrade transaction. Plan with the listed total for the blueprint you want and avoid assuming that a previous Barn automatically discounts the next one. As of August 11, 2026, the approved official and Mistria Guide sources do not publish a trade-in credit or upgrade discount for replacing one size with another.
Moving and Rebuilding a Barn
A Barn can be removed through the building menu. Removing it returns the blueprint and building materials so they can be placed again. Animals must be moved to another Barn or to daycare before the building is removed.
Pregnant animals cannot be moved. This restriction means the animal transfer must be completed before removal, and an active pregnancy prevents that transfer. No official or Mistria Guide page reviewed on August 11 documents pregnancy cancellation or a transfer workaround. Wait until the animal can be moved before starting the relocation.
The removal rule makes relocation possible without treating the existing structure as permanently fixed. It also creates a clear order for the move, beginning with animal housing and followed by building removal and replacement. The current Mistria Guide layout page confirms removal and rebuilding but does not publish the exact in-game menu labels, so follow the labels shown in the v1.0.2 building interface.
Large Barn and the Animal Sprite Statue
The Large Barn can hold an Animal Sprite Statue. When powered with an Essence Stone, the statue can pet animals automatically. The collected source also says the statue can be placed in a Large Coop.
No approved official or Mistria Guide page reviewed on August 11 publishes the Animal Sprite Statue's price, unlock method, power duration, or coverage limit. This page therefore confirms only the collected placement rule for a Large Barn or Large Coop and the automatic petting function while powered. Check the current in-game item description before spending an Essence Stone.
Barn Animals and Coop Animals
Barns support Cows, Sheep, Horses, and Alpacas. The source identifies Capybaras, Chickens, Ducks, and Rabbits as Coop animals only in its page planning notes. A complete Coop capacity, unlock, cost, and material table was not collected.
This page does not provide a full Coop cost and capacity comparison. The official first major update confirms that Large Coops become purchasable at Ranching level 40, while the current Mistria Guide animals page confirms which species use Coop housing. Do not copy the Barn values into a Coop plan without a separately verified table.
Upgrade Checklist
First confirm that your Ranching level meets the blueprint requirement. Next reserve the exact currency, Wood, and Stone listed for the selected size. Then make sure every animal has valid housing before removing an existing Barn.
Check pregnancy status before attempting any animal transfer. Keep the capacity of the destination Barn within its documented limit. For a Large Barn, plan the Animal Sprite Statue separately because the approved sources reviewed on August 11 do not publish its acquisition route or Essence Stone duration.
